In 2008, Travis committed to the University of Cincinnati, following in the footsteps of his older brother, Jason, who played there as an offensive lineman. Initially, Travis redshirted his freshman year, giving him time to adjust to college-level play and refine his skills.
However, his college career wasn’t without setbacks—he was suspended for the entire 2010 season due to a failed drug test. This served as a wake-up call for Travis, who used the experience to mature and refocus. Upon his return, he thrived as a tight end, recording 722 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in his senior year.
